Software Freedom Day - 19 september
I skrivande stund är det mindre än två månader kvar till dagen för fri programvara - Software Freedom Day (SFD) - går av stapeln. SFD handlar om att ge användaren makten över sin information och sin tillvaro på nätet. SFD handlar om att skapa ett samhälle som är transparent, framtidssäkert och öppet, där den enskilde kan säga stopp och nej tack och där han eller hon har möjlighet att påverka.
Det finns många anledningar till varför man ska välja den fria och öppna vägen. Men framför allt handlar det om valfrihet. Det ska inte vara ett tvång att använda fri programvara, lika lite som det ska vara ett tvång att använda sluten (eller proprietär) programvara. Det valet finns knappt idag när man köper en laptop från någon av de stora kedjorna. På Siba, OnOff, Elgiganten eller MediaMarkt kan du inte hitta en dator utan Windows eller MacOS X. Likadant är det hos de stora PC-tillverkarna, man får leta länge om man ska hitta en dator som inte kommer förinstallerad med Microsoft Windows i någon form.
För oss som inte vill ha datorn med Windows eller Mac OS X börjar det dock komma alternativ. De är inte många och det är inte de stora kedjorna som ligger i framkant. Det är de små, oberoende företagen som har dem.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace.
